Investigative journalisms defending public integrity

The aim of the project:
The main goal of the project was to improve the quality of investigative journalism in the Romanian local media.

Project results

  • Publication of monographs of local investigative journalists that put into light the factors that contribute to the decrease of professionalism of the local media in Constanta, Iasi, Craiova, Cluj, Galati, Timisoara, Bacau, Oradea, Brasov, Baia Mare, Turnu-Severin, Pitesti
  • the development of a network of investigative journalists in local media
  • training and the improvement of investigation skills of 12 journalists from the local media through an exercise of professional investigative journalism – “desantul 1”-, that is appropriate for cases of independence crisis of local media companies
  • a conference for the presentation of the project and the first edition of the National Contest of Investigation Journalism, which promoted the achievements of Romanian investigative journalists

The role of your organization
TI Romania coordinated the activities of the project. Its partners were the Romanian Center for Investigative Journalism and Media Monitoring Agency - Caţavencu Academy.
