Project aim:

Transparency International Romania is partners with the Pro Democracy association in this project. The project aims to raise integrity standards and develop the capacity of local public administration to fight against corruption. The project is implemented in 7 medium-size towns in Romania: Alexandria, Baia Mare, Brăila, Craiova, Focşani, Lupeni, Oradea.

Project outcomes:
  • set up “Integrity Groups in Local Public Administration” (GIL), whose members act as resources to the community, with the objective and necessary capacity to improve the level of integrity in local public administration;
  • perform a research to identify the sensitive areas from the point of view of corruption in local public administration in project cities;
  • draft and launch seven reports regarding the level of integrity in local public administration in project cities;
  • draft and launch a rational report regarding the level of integrity in local public administration in project cities;
  • formulate seven strategies to raise the level of integrity in local public administration in project cities;
  • adopting and implementation of these strategies by local decision-makers;
TI Romania’s role in the project:
  • coordinates, with the Pro Democracy Association, the main project activities;
  • participated in organizing and implementing training sessions for local project coordinators;
  • establishes the research methodology and applies it to the seven local studies and one national study regarding the level of integrity in local public administration;
  • offers expertise in establishing local strategies aimed at increasing the level of integrity in local public administration;
