The Presentation Conference of the NIAct Project

Transparency International Romania participated on Friday, June 30 2023, at the presentation conference of the project "NIAct - Updating legislation in the integrity field and providing support to authorities and declarants in the transition to digital declaration of assets and interests".

The NIAct project is carried out by the National Integrity Agency in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and Transparency International Romania, from February 2022 to August 2023. The project is co-financed by the European Social Fund through the Operational Programme for Administrative Capacity 2014 - 2020!

The general objective of the project is to inventory all normative acts and update the legal framework in the field of integrity, addressing conflicts of interest, incompatibilities, unjustified assets, as well as the asset and interest declaration system, based on the needs of stakeholders, substantiated by sociological analyses and research.

The specific objectives are listed below:

• Updating the legal framework for preventing and sanctioning conflicts of interest, incompatibilities, and unjustified assets.
• Supporting authorities and public institutions to optimize the electronic submission process of asset and interest declarations (DAI) and the development of uniform procedures.
• Developing the knowledge of responsible individuals in public institutions regarding the process of completing and electronically submitting asset and interest declarations through the e-DAI system.

Expected results following the implementation of the NIAct project:

• Project Result 1: Updated legal framework for preventing and sanctioning conflicts of interest, incompatibilities, and unjustified assets.
• Project Result 2: Providing support to authorities and public institutions to optimize the DAI submission process and develop uniform procedures.
• Project Result 3: Integrity awareness campaigns conducted.
• Project Result 4: Improved knowledge and skills of responsible individuals in public institutions regarding the process of completing and electronically submitting asset and interest declarations through the e-DAI system.
